Roadmap — Hotfix 1.0.1, 1.0.2, and the Free Content Update

Released September 9, 2026. Team Metal published the first official post-launch roadmap. It has three layers — a near-term hotfix this week, a bigger hotfix later this month, and a QoL update before the end of October. There is also a tease of a free content update beyond the fixes.

Hotfix 1.0.1 — this week

The team is in final testing and platform-approval for the first major hotfix. If the approval path goes smoothly, the patch lands this week; if anything trips, early next week instead.

What is actually in 1.0.1, per the dev post:

  • Rolling backup saves — extra protection if a save becomes corrupted or fails to load.
  • Progression-loss fixes — several situations where player progression could be unintentionally reset.
  • Crash fixes — across platforms, including one that sometimes fired during the Egregore boss fight.
  • Camera and lock-on — improvements around large enemies and bosses.

The post says there is more in 1.0.1 than the bullets above; the full patch notes will land with the patch.

Hotfix 1.0.2 — later this month

1.0.2 is a "substantial round" of fixes scoped to:

  • Co-op and crossplay fixes
  • Quest and objective blockers
  • Combat and boss fixes
  • Controller button customisation (currently only on PC, per 1.0.0.1)
  • Improved Boon information in the UI

Update 1.1 — late October

Bigger quality-of-life work driven by community feedback. No content details yet — the team is staying focused on the fixes first.

The free content update tease

The post closes with one sentence the community is dissecting: "We've got some exciting things cooking for our next FREE content update. More on that when the time is right." Nothing is named, but it is the first explicit confirmation that paid DLC is not the next move — whatever comes next will be free.

What this post is not

  • No new regions, classes, bosses, or weapons named.
  • No timeline for the free content update beyond "after the immediate priorities are in a better place."
  • No commitment to a public bug tracker or test realm (the Steam forum threads remain the only feedback channel).

Why this matters for your run

If you have been holding off on starting a Hellish run because of the save-corruption and progression-loss reports: 1.0.1 lands in days, not weeks. If you have been waiting on controller remap for console: 1.0.2, later this month. Co-op players with crossplay problems have a clearer window than they did a week ago.
