Hellish Frost Reaper Build — Crescent Moon Halberd + Rotkin Set
RPJames's late-game Frost Reaper build for Crimson Moon's Hellish difficulty. Crescent Moon Halberd + Rotkin armour set + Crusaders Frost trinket, mapped from his video timestamps.
Hellish Frost Reaper — Crescent Moon Halberd Build
This is the build walked through in RPJames's "OP Hellish Frost Reaper Build" video (4.2K views, uploaded 14 hours before this write-up). It is aimed at clearing Crimson Moon's Hellish difficulty and uses the Crescent Moon Halberd as the centrepiece, layered with the Rotkin armour set and a Frost-flavoured trinket stack.
⚠️ Community-sourced, not developer-confirmed. Gear and Boon names below come from RPJames's video. The official Crimson Moon build framework explains the 9-slot + Boons + Weapon Arts system in general terms — the specific named items here are from gameplay footage and may shift as the meta settles. If the developer publishes an official Frost build, this page will be updated.
The video at a glance
- Creator: RPJames
- Views: 4.2K (newest of the three Frost guides circulating this week)
- Why it matters: It is the most up-to-date Hellish-difficulty Frost build RPJames has posted, and the gear names line up with what FIDISTI is running in his parallel "Frost Build BREAKS Crimson Moon" video — meaning the community has converged on this loadout.
Build loadout (9 slots)
The official How Builds Work post framework is: 4 armour + 2 trinkets + 1 one-handed-and-shield + 1 two-handed weapon. RPJames's loadout fills all nine.
Two-handed weapon
| Slot | Item | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Two-handed | **Crescent Moon Halberd** | The build's signature weapon. Frost-scaling halberd that pairs with the Reaper perk stack. |
One-handed + shield
RPJames does not name a specific one-handed-and-shield slot in the video — it is either off-screen or deliberately left blank. If you have a Frost-scaling one-handed option, slot it for the off-hand swings; otherwise a generic shield for block-stability is fine.
Trinkets (x2)
| Slot | Item | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Trinket 1 | **The Crusaders Frost** | A Frost-flavoured trinket from the Crusader gear family. Likely contributes to the build's Frost damage uptime. |
| Trinket 2 | **No Ring To Rule Them All** | Ring slot. The "No Ring" naming convention usually indicates a ring that disables / overrides other ring effects — used here to anchor the build's rotation. |
| (likely) | **Reaper's Respite** | Listed in the video's timestamp section; possibly a third trinket slot or a Boon. Treat as Boon / passive until confirmed. |
Armour (4 pieces — Rotkin focus)
| Slot | Item |
|---|---|
| Chest | **Rotkin Cuirass** |
| Helm | **Rotkin Helmet** |
| Legs | **Telvaught's Greaves** |
| Gloves / 4th piece | Not named in the video. The fourth Rotkin piece has not surfaced in the timestamp listing — likely still being tested. |
The 3-piece Rotkin core (Cuirass + Helmet + Greaves) is enough to enable the build's identity. If a fourth Rotkin piece is discovered, this page will be updated.
Additional Boons
The video's timestamp section closes with "Additional Boons" — RPJames does not list individual Boon names in the description. The general principle (from the How Builds Work post) is that Frost-themed Boons and any Boons that reward aggressive melee combos will synergise with this build.

How to play it
The build wants you to be in melee range — the Crescent Moon Halberd's reach and Frost procs are wasted at range. Play the How Runs Work loop:
- Open a hunt with this loadout. Sanctus Clypeus is your base.
- Push through a Ward, fighting elites and farming Frost-scaling gear.
- Hit a Nexus Gate and lean into the Frost path — pick Boons that scale Frost damage or extend Frost uptime.
- End-boss or die — Purify anything you like on success, then take it back to base for the next run.
When this build shines
- Hellish difficulty clears, especially vs. elite enemies and world bosses.
- Late-game runs where you have enough gear to round out the 9 slots.
- Solo or paired with a Frost-themed partner in co-op.
When this build struggles
- Early game — you do not have the Rotkin pieces or the Crescent Moon Halberd yet. Use a starter loadout from the Beginner Tips page until then.
- Ranged / kiting fights — this is a melee build. Bosses that force you to disengage will eat your flasks.
Compare with the other Frost build circulating
FIDISTI's "Frost Build BREAKS Crimson Moon" (12K views, 6 days old) runs a similar Frost playstyle and also targets Hellish elites and bosses. The two creators appear to have converged on a Frost-melee identity even if their exact gear differs. Watch both if you are optimising — the community consensus is that Frost uptime + Frost-scaling weapon + Frost trinket is the core triplet.
