Crimson Moon Level Unlocks

Character level is the persistent progression in Crimson Moon — it survives every Ward run. Leveling up happens by completing runs and purifying gear. Per How Builds Work and the developer-run Crimson Moon Wiki, the levels unlock stat points, shop inventory tiers, Angel access, and gear drop rarity tiers.

The exact stat values are not yet in first-party sources — the table below is from the developer-run Crimson Moon Wiki (via crimsonmoonguide.online), cross-checked against community Steam achievement data and the NPC roles in our wiki.

Stat gains per level

Per the developer-run Crimson Moon Wiki, each level grants a small pool of stat points distributed across:

  • HP — health pool
  • Stamina — dodge / sprint / parry stamina
  • Damage — base damage scaling

Specific values are not yet published; community testing suggests HP scales linearly and Damage scales non-linearly (each level grants a marginally larger damage bonus than the last).

Angel access by level

  • Level 5: First Angel form chosen — either Aegis or Sunder path. Per Angels, this is a per-character choice that defines part of the build identity.
  • Level 10: Second Angel unlocked. From this point on, the player can swap between Aegis and Sunder freely between Ward runs.

Shop inventory tiers

The NPCs at Sanctus Clypeus stock different inventory based on your level:

  • Lotte (Vendor) — level 2 unlocks her fully. Sells trinkets, throwables, consumables. Higher-level inventory tiers add rare consumables.
  • Gajov (Blacksmith) — level 2 unlocks weapon / armor purchase for Souls, plus the upgrade rarity service.
  • Mereda (Historian) — level 4 unlocks Boon trading: Lore Scrolls → Boons, Souls → Blessings.

Gear drop tiers

Uncommon+1 statLevel 2
Rare+2 stats + affixLevel 6
Epic+3 stats + affix + set bonusLevel 9
Legendary *(if it exists at launch)*Full set bonusLevel 14+

Per Loot & Progression, the purify rarity mechanic means that purified gear always banks at Common regardless of the rarity you found it at — the upgrade happens at Gajov.

Progression loop recap

Per How Runs Work and Loot & Progression:

  1. Run a Ward → earn XP and Souls
  2. Return to Sanctus Clypeus → level up (persistent stat gain)
  3. Visit NPCs (Gajov / Lotte / Mereda) → upgrade, buy, trade
  4. Purify gear → bank into Armory at Common rarity
  5. Pick next Ward → repeat

The character level is what survives a failed run. The purified gear is what survives a successful one. Everything else resets at the Ward entrance.
