Hotfix 1.0.1 — Camera, Save Corruption, and the Egregore Crash
Released September 12, 2026. Team Metal's first post-launch hotfix. The headline fixes are rolling backup saves, camera and lock-on improvements against large stationary bosses, the Egregore boss-fight crash, and Steam Deck ↔ PC save syncing. Co-op also gets the long-promised "client keeps solo progress" change.
If you only have time for two things from this patch: (1) the rolling backup saves are automatic — your existing save is now backed up on every write, so a corrupted save can roll back to the previous write instead of wiping; (2) the Egregore fight no longer crashes.
Key fixes at a glance
- Rolling backup saves — automatic on every save write. If the primary save becomes corrupted or fails to load, the game falls back to the previous write instead of forcing a reset.
- Camera and lock-on — large stationary bosses (Tyrigon, Dry Rot King's God form) no longer jitter the lock-on camera. More improvements are slated for 1.0.2 (interiors, environment occlusion, large enemies).
- Egregore crash — fixed a crash that could trigger mid-fight on PC and console.
- Steam Deck ↔ PC save sync — fixed an issue where playing on both endpoints with the same Steam account could lose progress.
- Co-op run persistence — clients can now continue a co-op run solo if the host drops; previously client progress was discarded.
- HUD scaling — new scaling option in Settings; UI now scales correctly at 4K.
- Keybinding UI — custom bindings now appear in prompts and HUD icons; missing Cancel option added; Left Shift / Right Shift show distinct icons.

What this hotfix does not yet fix
Team Metal flagged these as still under investigation in the same post:
- Save and progression loss is described as "continues to be a top priority", with rolling backup saves as the first layer of defense. Reports that haven't yet been reproduced are still being investigated.
- Camera improvements for interiors and large-enemy occlusion are explicitly scheduled for Hotfix 1.0.2.
