One Month in Gildenarch
Team Metal's first-month retro from Game Director David Lesperance: where Crimson Moon is now, what's coming in Patch 1.1, and the early signs of life around the new content focus now that the launch-window fixes are landing.
One Month in Gildenarch
A first-month check-in from David Lesperance, Game Director at ProbablyMonsters. Posted October 3, 2026.
"It's been one month since we launched Crimson Moon, and I wanted to take a moment to speak directly to all of you about where we've been, where we are today, and where we're going next."
Where we are
David opens with an acknowledgment: September 1 didn't go the way the team wanted it to. Bugs, crashes, progression issues, and other problems got in the way of the experience the team set out to ship. That's been frustrating, and he calls it out by name rather than soft-pedaling it.
At the same time, the team has watched players explore Gildenarch, take on its bosses, run co-op, and share what they've found. The retrospective frames that as the motivation counterweight to a rough launch — "amidst the issues we've been working through, seeing people having fun with Crimson Moon has been a real source of motivation for the entire team."
What shipped in the first month
Since launch, Team Metal has released three drops:
- Patch 1.0.0.1 (notes) — keybinding alpha
- Hotfix 1.0.1 (notes) — camera, save corruption, Egregore crash
- Hotfix 1.0.2 (notes) — co-op, saves, Boons & Weapon Arts, dozens of smaller fixes
The retro points at hundreds of issues addressed across saves and progression, crashes and stability, co-op, combat, camera, and run-blocking cases. Bug reports and detailed feedback from the player base were direct inputs into the prioritization.
What's next: Patch 1.1
"Patch 1.1 is next, with more fixes and quality-of-life improvements informed by the feedback you've shared with us. There is still work to do, and we'll continue listening and improving the game."
PC keybinding was already scheduled into Patch 1.1 since the Hotfix 1.0.2 preview post. Patch 1.1 is expected in late October.
The October shift: a hint at new content
The retro closes with the most actionable sentence in the post:
"But as we move into October, you're also going to start hearing us talk about something we haven't been able to focus on nearly as much during our first month — new content."
The Steam post body cuts off at that note (Steam's API truncates long posts on the public feed). The implication reads as: launch-window stability work is largely behind the team, and post-launch content pipelines are now starting to surface.
We don't yet have specifics — no enemy, mode, or region has been named. When Team Metal publishes more, we'll add it to the updates index and surface it from the home page.
What this post is not
- Not a patch. No game state changes ship with this post.
- Not a roadmap update. The team is signaling the direction of October, not committing to specific dates or features.
- Not an apology. It's a recognition of launch issues framed next to a look-ahead; "Onward" tone, not "We messed up."
